11. 2021? 2041? WHAT'S GOING ON?!

The expedition takes place in November this year, so what’s all this talk about 2041?

2021 marks only 20 years to go until the Antarctic Treaty, currently protecting Antarctica and preventing the exploitation of its resources, expires.

While 2041 might seem far away, it’s actually frighteningly close, and we are running out of time! If we don’t take action today, there will be nothing to stop the pillaging and destruction of this pristine continent tomorrow.

Rob Swan founded this expedition so that he could inspire us – the next generation – to protect Antarctica, and pass this responsibility on to us.

While each member of the team might have different motivations for going on this expedition, our overall goal is to become ambassadors for Antarctica and to fight to protect this last great and untouched wilderness.
