DID YOU KNOW? There are seven species of penguins that inhabit the land and water in and around Antarctica? Sadly, the effects of global warming and climate change have put the habitat of these waddling tuxedo-wearers under threat. Let's take a closer look at each of the seven species and their distinguishing features!

These are Rockhopper penguins, small in size and recognized by their red eyes, pink webbed feet, orange beak, and adorable black and yellow spiky head feathers. Their diet includes krills and crustaceans, and occasionally squids and myctophid fish, and they can dive up to 330 ft (about 100 meters) below the surface of the ocean in search of this food. Three subspecies of Rockhopper penguins are found across Antarctica and the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
(Psst! The musical comedy animated film, 'Happy Feet', also includes a legendary rockhopper penguin named Lovelace - be sure to check it out!)
